wheels and arches
Sorry to add to this saga. If you got the arches for free you have nothing to loose. Do not fit them. Goup 5 arches were really made for racing as a cheap replacable arch on 10wheels and do not look very good without the extra large wheels that racers used. Your present wheel arches accept most 5 wide wheels and many 5.5 wheels. When you have decided who to buy from, ask them what offset they have and any reputable dealer will know if they are going to fit without modification. 12 wheels are good alround wheels but 6 wide is an overkill and like 6x13 do not handle as well unles the suspension is tweaked.

wheel arches
the plastic wheel arches fitted as standard to your car will accept 5 and most 5.5 wheels I know as they stick in a little further, Revo made a 5.5 that fitted. Wheels make a car look good but the tyre do the work and 165x60 x12 can fit all . As I said earlier, any decent supplier will let you know whether their brand of wheels will fit your standard arches. If you want to change your arches go for something decent looking like WP style or you could cover yours with stainless steel covers

Hi Milli Have just read the info on the arches and should not be a problem as they screw on to the car...You might just have to line up the arches to your car and drill some holes.. or if you already have arches they may (with a little luck) line up to existing holes in the panels..

wheel size and arches...
Hi, I am wanting to fit a set of Wood and Pickett arches on my Mini (93 Sprite). It is currently fitted with standard 12in wheels and Special arches. The wheel width is spot on to match the arches now, so will the W&P arches be too wide? Will I need spacers? I dont really want to fit 6in wide wheels, but if I have to, will the necessary body work make it difficult to fit the W&Ps? Thanks, Vince

wheel catching the wheel arch
Dont know if anyone has experienced this before! when i am reversing on full lock the front passenger wheel catches the back of the wheel arch, as though the shock absorber is too low. After replacing the front shock absorbers, and expecting the problem to stop, i am still getting the same problem. is there anything i can do to stop this problem, anything else that needs replacing or does something different shock absorbers etc. Thanks for any help Olly

Centre wheel to arch trim measurements
Does anyone have the correct standard measurement for the distance between the center of the wheel and the arch trim? Its just that my mini seems low at the front and I can only find the data for hydroelastic suspension. Cheers.

If you mean the single bar that goes to the front of the car, sort of diagonally that is the tie bar and you can get heavy duty ones of these. If its a part that runs accross the car its the top arm, bottom arm or driveshaft (unlikely). Unfortunately most garages dont know much about minis and accidentally do all sorts of damage - jacking them up on the floorpan, bending tie-bars when jacking etc. Just as reference, the main thing that effects ride height on minis are the rubber suspension cones, if your car is running low it is probably down to these. If it has Hi-Lo adjustable suspension parts this also determines the ride height and is adjustable but shouldnt be used to compensate for worn rubber cones. Bigger wheels usually need the front of the front wheel arches to be modified or the wheel will catch it.

Youll have to cut them and fit new bigger arches. To get through the MOT the law now requires the wheel to be fully covered. I think Mini Spares sell a template set to cut the wheel arches to. Note: if fitting W&P arches, youll need to retain the lip on the wheel arches so cut them out and then rivet them up higher.

WHEEL ARCH KIT IN ABS PLASTIC 2.5'WIDE WP TYPE
Hi there,
I'm looking at changing my standard black plastic cooper arches for some mini spares wide profile (WP) ones (or similar). Do you reckon they'll fit using the same holes as the old ones, and how easy do you think i could do them?
Do you think these are the nearest copy to the retro wood and pickett ones?
Any tips, let me know!!
Thanks,
Camilla Dainow

wheel arch protection
Now that this site is no longer selling the 'chamlo1/chamlo2' wheel arch protectors ( even though it is still in the on-line catalogue) does anyone know if there is a similar product on the market? as these seem to be a must have for anyone wishing to protect their beloved!

Did you ever have any luck tracking down any of the liners?
I tried for ages to get some, never managed to get my hands on a set, seems like they'd still be a great seller if someone manufactured them again.
Any chance someone in Mini Spares can enlighten us on this?
Tony

Nah!.....not a peep so I had to settle for paying £350 notes for loadsa welding, A lot of which, I feel, could have been prevented or lessened if I had the aforementioned liners!
a pointer from minispares would be welcome........
anyone...........?.
please..........?
pretty please...........?

don't know if it still interesting for but there is a company in germany, who provides those protections. For the mini it's alloy I guess and only available for the front. Take a lool http://www.lokari.de/. Doesn't tried them by myself; something always appears to be more important..

Spat Wheel Arches
I have just bought some spat wheel arches - is there such a thing as a template to show where exactly to drill holes on front and rear wings. Thanks
